Why Should I Choose Physical Therapy?
There are several reasons to choose physical therapy over costly surgeries and medications. Physical therapy has been shown to not only help resolve pain and improve function, but it is also effective at enhancing your overall health and well-being. One of the most significant benefits of physical therapy is that it can uncover the underlying reasons for your injuries and/or pain.
Some of the impairments your physical therapist can help you correct include:
- Loss of motion
- Weakness
- Poor posture and faulty movement patterns
- Gait abnormalities
- Loss of balance
- Coordination deficits
- Neurological impairment
- Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors (i.e., poor sleep habits, improper nutrition, lack of exercise, etc.).
4 Benefits of Physical Therapy
A physical therapist can educate you about ways to move safer, use your energy more efficiently, reduce the risk of re-injury, and enhance the overall effects of your care. The benefits of physical therapy treatments include easing pain, reducing spasms, increasing circulation, and promoting healing.
- Physical therapy can help improve your joint range of motion and overall mobility: Our ability to move depends on how individual joints move and how the body’s joints move in concert with one another. Increasing joint range of motion and mobility of the connective tissues around your joints (including the tendons, muscles, fascia, and joint capsules) will help your joints feel better and move better.
- This will also help you improve overall functional mobility and activity tolerance, essential for work, leisure, and simple daily functions.
- Physical therapy can help strengthen weaknesses and compensation patterns: Through injury or surgery, muscles become weak and impact your ability to move and function normally.
- For some, an old injury or abnormal movement pattern has led to weakness due to compensations. Physical therapists are skilled at assessing the whole body, identifying weaknesses, and teaching how to restore strength and function.
- Physical therapy can improve your overall health and well-being: When you see a physical therapist for pain and injuries, you will receive rehabilitation benefits to resolve the condition and a total body approach to health.
- Physical therapists can recommend nutrition to improve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health. In addition, physical therapists are movement experts and trained to help you move/exercise more, no matter your limitations or restrictions. More activity equals improved health!
- Physical therapy can help you reduce the risk of injury: By implementing a holistic approach, we can improve and restore your function and prevent injuries. This may include all components of typical physical therapy and include gait modifications and coordination exercises to stimulate the nervous system and help ensure your mechanics are ideal to avoid an injury.

Fall Fitness: Staying Active with Physical Therapy
Autumn is officially here, and you know what that means: cooler temperatures, crisp mornings, and a gorgeous, colorful backdrop for sports and other outdoor activities. However, this time of year can also be busy, and shifting routines, like fall sports training or weekend hikes, can bring new physical challenges.
Fortunately, a few practical steps can help you stay strong, safe, and energized this season.
Tips for Fall Fitness From the Achieve Physical Therapy LLC Team
- Warm-Ups Are More Important Than Ever: Your muscles tighten more quickly in cooler air, so always start activity with light stretching and dynamic movements.
- Take Steps to Stay Visible: The shorter days mean your outdoor workouts may go until after dark. Reflective gear and headlamps help keep walkers, runners, and cyclists safe.
- Keep Up With Your Strength Training: In particular, focus on core and lower-body strength. Strong hips, glutes, and legs support balance on uneven trails or leaf-covered sidewalks.
- Mix in Mobility Training, Too: Regular stretching and mobility drills reduce stiffness, improve posture, and allow for smoother, safer motion.
- Considering Incorporating Balance Training: Simple balance exercises like single-leg stands or heel-to-toe walks can help you avoid slips and falls on slick or uneven ground.
- Listen to Your Body: A little muscle soreness is normal after increased activity. However, sharp or lingering pain is a signal that something may be wrong–and that’s where Achieve Physical Therapy LLC can help.

Luke F.’s Journey Back to Lacrosse
For more than 20 years, Luke F. lived with constant back pain that kept him from enjoying the activities he loved most, especially playing lacrosse. The pain limited his ability to stay active, made it hard to keep up with the gym, and left him wondering if he’d ever feel like himself again.
That all changed when Luke began working with Erik H, PT, and the team at Achieve Physical Therapy. Through personalized care and guidance, Luke not only found relief but rediscovered his passion for movement and sport.
“I’ve dealt with back pain for over 20 years, and it kept me from doing the things I love, especially playing lacrosse. Working with Erik and the team at Achieve PT has completely changed that. I’m now back to playing men’s league lacrosse at the level I want, hitting the gym consistently, and feeling the best I’ve felt in years. I never thought I’d get back here, but thanks to their guidance and support, I did.”
Today, Luke is back on the lacrosse field, competing in men’s league games, staying consistent with his workouts, and living pain-free. His story is a powerful reminder of what is possible with the right support and determination.
We’re proud of Luke’s progress and grateful for the opportunity to help him achieve his goals!
